Chesterton Girls Swimming delivered one of the most dominant sectional performances in program history at the Valparaiso Sectional, winning 7 of 12 events, placing second in the other five, and posting automatic state-qualifying times in four of those second-place finishes. The depth of the roster, combined with strong swims across every level of the lineup, powered Chesterton to a commanding team victory. Based on the results, Chesterton is positioned to send athletes to the state meet in nearly every event, with the potential to qualify all 12 events pending diving results. If senior Tegan Werner receives an expected callback in the 100 butterfly when the state field is finalized, Chesterton will have representation in all 11 swimming events. With diving regionals still ahead, that number could climb to all 12. 🔱 Relay Excellence Chesterton’s strong relay performances continued to set the tone for the postseason: 200 Medley Relay – Laughner, Bonez, Kellstrom, Law Time: 1:43.41, under the state cut and fast enough for last year’s A-final. 200 Freestyle Relay – Law, Soto, Werner, Ostertag Time: 1:36.15, a sectional championship swim and ahead of last year’s A-final cutoff. 400 Freestyle Relay – Ostertag, Werner, Laughner, Bonez Time: 3:26.16, setting new sectional and pool records and coming within one-tenth of the 10-year school record.
