🤼‍♂️🔥 TWO SEMI-STATE CHAMPIONS. STATE BOUND. 🔥🤼‍♂️ Chesterton has two wrestlers heading to Gainbridge Fieldhouse for the IHSAA State Wrestling Championships — and both are riding the momentum of Semi-State titles! 🏆 Max Quiroz (126 lbs | 45-2) – The junior has been unstoppable since moving down to 126, going undefeated at the weight and adding a Semi-State championship to his DAC, Sectional, and Regional titles. Max capped his day with a 7-4 decision over Lowell’s Noel Verduzco and dominated the bracket with multiple tech falls along the way. 🏆 Lucas Anderson (190 lbs | 33-8) – The senior made the move up to 190 midseason and responded in a big way. Lucas avenged an earlier loss in the championship match, defeating Lowell’s Cayden Yuran 10-9 to claim his first Semi-State title. He punched his ticket to Indy with two tech falls and a semifinal pin. These two are Chesterton’s first state qualifiers since 2024 and our first Semi-State champions since Aidan Torres’ undefeated state title run in 2023. But this was truly a TEAM effort. 💛 The Trojans sent six wrestlers to East Chicago Central and finished 8th out of 50 scoring teams with a strong 10-3 combined record: • Greyson Strickland (31-9) – One win away from state, falling 8-7 in the ticket round. • Keegan Gibbons (31-15) – Advanced to the ticket round at 215 after a regional runner-up finish. • Patrick Mochen (28-12) – Competed hard at Semi-State. • Caden Mahaffey (31-12) – Represented the Trojans with a Semi-State appearance. Only four schools crowned multiple champions — and Chesterton was one of them. 💪 📍 Gainbridge Fieldhouse – Indianapolis 🗓 Friday & Saturday Anderson opens against Floyd Central’s Spencer Fain. Quiroz faces Lakeland’s Qwanell Gabriel.
