The Chesterton Boys Track and Field team opened the outdoor season with wins over Highland and Gary West Side, setting the tone early with a strong all around performance. Nathan Vaughan led the way for the Trojans. He won the 300 hurdles in 38.93, the second fastest time in school history, and won the long jump with a mark of 22 feet 9.75 inches, which ranks fourth all time at Chesterton. On the track, Weston Moore won the 100 in 11.98 and placed second in the 200 in 22.92. Louis Raffin won the 200 in 22.82 and the 110 hurdles in 17.11. Ben Phillips won the 400 in 51.92 and added a strong performance in the 200. Noah Haubold placed second in the 400. The distance group swept the top three spots in multiple events. Zarek Sierazy, William Roberson, and William Morgan finished first, second, and third in the 800. Ryan Nix won both the 1600 and 3200, with Spencer Martin and Nick Jakel finishing second and third in the 1600. In the 3200, Ray Hundt and Nick Jakel placed second and third. The 4x100 relay team of Nathan Vaughan, Cal Wisniewski, Weston Moore, and Louis Raffin won in 42.21, which ranks second all time at Chesterton. The 4x400 team of Nathan Vaughan, Cal Wisniewski, Ben Phillips, and Louis Raffin placed first in 3:21.93, which ranks seventh all time. The 4x800 team of William Morgan, William Roberson, Zarek Sierazy, and Spencer Martin also placed first. In the field events, Nolan Huley and Elijah Schnarr led the way in high jump. In long jump, Cal Wisniewski finished second and Cole Gilbert placed third. Maddox McKinney won the pole vault, with Patrick Mochen and Jacob VanVleet finishing second and third. In the throws, Colin Kellogg won discus, Malik Oueslati placed second, and Raul Otero finished third. In shot put, Carlos Leon won, Malik Oueslati placed second, and Tyler Nevious finished third. Head coach Bryan Nallenweg said, "For the first meet of the season, there were a lot of really solid performances and a number of PRs throughout the meet. It was a great start to the season and we have a lot to build on. This team has a chance to do some special things this season."
