The Trojans Boys of Spring took the brief bus ride from Loeb Stadium to William Henry Harrison High School which is better known as Harrison for the final of three games versus Lafayette area schools in the Joe Heath Classic. After winning the first two games against McCutcheon and Jeff, Chesterton looked to get the brooms out for a Lafayette sweep as they faced the Raiders from Harrison. As visitors, the Trojans scored first in all three games this weekend and only trailed for half of an inning all weekend when they trailed Jeff 3-2 after two frames but took the lead quicker than you could get a dog at concessions in the top of the third. Like they did all weekend the Trojans bats got hot early and stayed hot the whole game by scoring in five of the seven innings as they did in the McCutcheon game. This time Rob Czarniecki(2-4, 2R, BB, K) hit a frozen rope single on the first offering of the game and swiped second before scoring on the Troy Barrett(2-4, R, 3RBI) single. In the second the Trojans managed two runs with two outs after a John Knight(0-3, RBI, K) fly out and Nate Redman(2-4, RBI, 2K) went down swinging. Isaiah Prater(2-4, R, RBI, K) reached on an error to roll the top in Czarniecki who got a hard knock up the middle. Barrett followed with his second ribbie of the contest with a shot that split the outfielders for a two bagger. Eli McClelland(1-4, RBI, K) followed suit with a wounded duck that fell out of reach of the diving second baseman in shallow right and Barrett scampered in from second to make it four to zero in favor of Chesterton. In the home half of the second Trojans ace, Barrett(3IP, 3H, R, 1ER, 7K), allowed a two out double on a curve that caught more of the plate than he had liked. The next Harrison hitter reached on an infield single that was gloved by shortstop Ethan Glassman(2-3, 3R, BB, 2B) who fielded the ball on the right side of second base and the runner from second crossed the plate on the throw to first. Caden Hackett(0-4, K) would gun down the runner trying to steal second to end the inning. Barrett retired the first five Raiders via the K prior to the double. Chesterton would rebound nicely with two runs of their own in the ensuing frame when G Kirkland(0-2, R, BB) worked a walk ahead of a Glass bunt single. John Knight(0-3, RBI, K) did his job bunting Glassman to second and scoring Kirkland with a well-placed bunt running the score to 6-1 Trojans. Barrett would allow a lead-off single and another reached on an error that had the Raiders threatening in the bottom of the third. The left-handed Purdue commit then went to another gear and struck out the one and two-hole hitters before slamming the door with a weak infield roller handled easily be Prater at second base. Chesterton would be held scoreless in the fourth but added an insurance run in the fifth when Glassman doubled and scored on a Nate Redman(2-4, RBI, 2K) knock. The pair would nearly pull off the feat again in the seventh except this time Prater would get credited with the RBI on his single to right to drive in Glassman who walked. On the defensive side of the ball, Cam Campbell came on in relief of Barrett and impressed by scattering four hits and allowing a single earned run while walking three and fanning two over four full innings to seal the victory and complete the sweep of Lafayette teams. Troy Barrett earned the necklace for "Offensive Player of the Game" while Cam Campbell earned the "Defensive Player of the Game" honors. Chesterton moves to 6-3 on the year with a DAC billing with Michigan City on Tuesday at their place starting at 4:30,
