    Troy Barrett

The Trojans traveled to LaPorte on Wednesday afternoon to battle the Slicers and came away with their eighth consecutive victory and the tenth out of the last eleven contests. Troy Barrett(4-4, 2R, RBI, 2B) was the guy for the Trojans for this one, this time with the bat and not his left arm. Barrett was a perfect four for four at the dish including a double. John Knight got the nod to begin the game on the bump for Chesterton was quite impressive going 4.2 innings and only allowed one earned while scattering four hits while walking two and whiffing four. The opposing pitcher held the Trojan bats in check in the front four frames even though they would threaten but fail to score in the first and third. Barrett and Eli McClelland(1-4, 3RBI) got back-to-back knocks in the first ahead of a hit by pitch to Caden Hackett(0-2, 2HBP) the loaded the bases. The Slicer side winder would then set down G Kirkland(0-4, 2K) on strikes and Knight(0-3, BB, 2K) flied out to center to leave the maximum on the bases. LaPorte pushed a run across to open their half on a leadoff walk that scored, as they always do. Fast forward to the visitor's half of the fifth where the Trojan bats finally solved the crafty right hander to put up a crooked number on the scoreboard to take the lead. Rob Czarniecki(1-3, 2R, 3B) tripled in the leadoff spot and he wasn't there long since Barrett smacked a single that knotted the game at one run a piece. Barrett would swipe the bag at second and then advanced to third on a wild pitch. McClelland, a great situational hitter, then grounded to deep short for a fielders choice ribbie to give Chesterton a lead they would never relinquish. The Trojans would tack on some insurance runs, brought to you by Tom Wisch at All-State, not really but what's wrong with a free plug for a guy who donates to Chesterton Baseball. The extra runs were actually brought to you by Czarniecki taking a pitch to the bicep in which the ball had to be replaced because like Superman, he's made of steel. He would later come around to score after a theft of second and an infield error off the bat of McClelland that also plated Barrett making the score a three-run spread. Czarniecki(2.1IP, H, 2BB, 3K) took over for Dylan Bradford on the hill in the bottom of the fifth after Bradford surrendered a two out double and fanned Kirk on four pitches crushing the hopes of a Slicer comeback. Ethan Glassman(1-3, R, BB, 2B) helped the Trojan cause when he doubled and scored on Nate Redman's(1-3, RBI) rbi single to left with one in the wagon to round out the scoring. The Trojans will enjoy a nice five-day break until next Tuesday when they host Lake Central with a start time of 4:30. RECORD: 11-3 DAC 6-0
