The Chesterton golf team finished in 5th place at the Wawasee Invitational on Saturday at Maxwelton Golf Course. The Trojans shot their best score in the last two seasons with a 326. The team was led by junior Jake Bobin who also finished in fifth place individually by shooting a 77 (+5). In what started off as an uncharacteristic morning for the junior, Bobin was 7-over headed into his last five holes. He then caught fire with birdies on three of his next four holes. The other story of the day was the play of three freshmen who all shot season-best scores. Zac Racette and Massimo Popa each carded an 82, while Miles Mulcahy shot an 85. Racette bested his previous best score by three strokes, Mulcahy by two, and Popa by seven. Senior Drew Pacilio also shot an 89 on the afternoon.
