Chesterton found their knight in shining armor, except this time he wore white, Nike baseball pants and a maroon jersey with the #2 on the back and the weapon he wielded was his right arm. The assassin donned a baseball hat instead of a helmet and barely spoke a single word as his weapon hurled objects passed the enemy, Illiana Christian. His name you ask. According to lore on the GameChanger app his name was, John Knight(W, 6.2IP, 4H, 2R, ER, 0BB, 11K). The Vikings couldn't fend off the hurled object and eleven times they struck out and only hit it safely four times. Knights' men-at-arms, known as Trojans, helped him tremendously in the battle. One squire named Eli McClelland(2-3, R, RBI) struck the white object twice reaching the safety of first base twice in three attempts officially getting off the schneid. In the first inning a bunt single was erased when Caden Hackett(0-3, 2K) threw the baserunner out trying to swipe second and Knight fanned another. In the home half Rob Czarniecki(1-4, R, RBI, HR(6)) went yard hitting a nuke to left over the scoreboard that had no doubt off the bat for his sixth jack of the season. Knight found his groove in the second as he struck out six consecutive Vikings who all went down swinging. Chesterton managed a run in the bottom half after Ethan Glassman(1-1, R, RBI, 2BB, 2B) drew the free pass and scored as the battery of VanProoyen and Slavich couldn't keep the offering from getting to the backstop. The Trojans would get two knocks in the third but Troy Barrett(1-3, R, BB) who singled and advanced to second on a McClelland knock was picked off from second base. McClelland would be left stranded as Caden Hackett went down on strikes to end the inning. Illiana would eventually get on the board in the fifth on the one mistake that Knight made on the day. Knight left a ball up in the zone and H. Post hit it over the wall in left for a solo shot. The homerun woke up the Trojan bats and they went to work scoring five runs in the home half. Isaiah Prater(0-2, R, BB, 2K) started things off out of double leadoff spot drawing the free 90. Czarniecki flied to right and Barrett got a free pass putting runners at first and second. McClelland's second hit on the day brought Prater home making it 3-1 Trojans. Hackett popped out to first ahead of Gary Kirkland's(0-1, R, 2BB) base-on-balls that packed the sacks with Trojans. Knight came to the dish and delivered a flare to center that looked like a missile through the middle on the GC app to drive home McClelland and Kirkland. Sully Fleming courtesy ran for Knight and later scored on an Ethan Glassman(1-1, R, RBI, 2BB, 2B) double to center running the tally to 7-1. Nate Redman(0-2, BB) would line out to the second baseman to end the frame in which Chesterton sent all nine hitters to the plate. Knight took the hill again in the sixth striking out all three batters of which two didn't need any help because they were just looking. Illiana would score a run in the final inning when T. Post doubled and advanced to third on a grounder and scored when the next hitter reached on an infield error by the Trojans. Cam Campbell would enter the game and promptly retired the only batter he faced on a fly out to Redman in right field to put this one in the books. The victory runs the Trojans win total to 17 against just 5 losses with a DAC billing at Portage on Tuesday afternoon at 4:30.
