Lady Trojans Girls Track and Field Team Delivers Strong Performances at JV DAC

The Lady Trojans track and field team turned in an impressive all-around performance this week, earning top finishes in sprinting, distance events, relays, hurdles, and field competitions at the JV DAC. The Lady Trojans consistently placed near the top of the standings throughout the meet, highlighted by several runner-up relay finishes and standout individual performances. Sophomore sprinter Daisha Lewis led the Trojans on the track, placing second in the girls 400-meter dash with a time of 1:02.43 and adding a third-place finish in the 200-meter dash in 27.35 seconds. Teammate Adriana Gorbea also contributed a strong sprint performance, finishing fifth in the 200-meter dash and ninth in the 100-meter dash. In the distance events, Chesterton showed depth and endurance. Makenna Stasko captured second place in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:36.84, while Adelyn Booras placed sixth in the 1600-meter run in 5:59.44. In the 3200-meter run, Lauren Kroft earned a top-five finish by taking fourth overall with a time of 12:59.43. The Trojans also excelled in the hurdle events. Freshman Carys Fleming finished eighth in the 100-meter hurdles and later placed fifth in the 300-meter hurdles with a strong time of 53.13 seconds. McKenzie Doot added solid points for Chesterton in both hurdle races. Chesterton’s relay teams delivered some of the team’s strongest results of the day. The Lady Trojans finished second in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 53.31, second again in the 4x400-meter relay at 4:32.42, and second in the 4x800-meter relay with a mark of 10:53.33. Field events also proved productive. Senior Ava Buenaventura won the girls discus title with a throw of 83 feet, 9 inches, leading a strong showing from Chesterton throwers. Willow Price added points in both discus and shot put, while Evelyn Prater secured top-10 finishes in each throwing event. In the long jump, Lily Gilbert placed fifth overall with a leap of 15 feet, 5.5 inches. The Trojans also received contributions in pole vault from Gabriella Raffin and Madelyn Welborn, both clearing 7 feet.
