The Lady Trojans track and field team will send an impressive group of athletes to the IHSAA State Finals after standout performances across multiple events at the Portage Regional Tuesday night. From dominant sprint performances to distance grit and relay depth, the Lady Trojans showed they are ready to compete on Indiana’s biggest stage. Leading the charge is senior Kenedi Bradley, who put together one of the most dominant performances of the meet. Bradley captured regional championships in both the 100-meter dash (11.71) and 200-meter dash (24.82), improving on strong preliminary performances in both events. The senior standout will also represent Chesterton as part of the state-qualifying 4x100-meter relay and 4x400-meter relay squads, giving her four opportunities to compete at state. First year sophomore sprinter Allie Anderson competed in the 200-meter finals where she finished fifth in a 25.61. Anderson is also expected to be a key contributor on Chesterton’s 4x100 relay team at state. Gretta McCrovitz competed in the 400m where she finished ninth in 59.98. The distance squad battled through deep, competitive fields throughout the evening. In the 800 meters, Hannah Haring placed 12th in 2:28.45, while Taylor Kisic finished 15th in 2:42.18. In the 1600 meters, freshman Evie Fortney led the Trojans with an eighth-place finish in 5:21.12, followed by Paige Clancy, who placed 14th in 5:50.99. The 3200-meter run saw sophomore Natalie White turn in one of the top performances of the night, placing fourth in 11:28.94 while teammate Natascha Lepinasse competed to a 14th-place finish in 13:26.82. Chesterton’s relay teams also secured spots at the state meet. The 4x100-meter relay team raced to a third-place finish in 48.11, while the 4x400-meter relay team placed third in 4:02.17. Chesterton’s 4x800-meter relay narrowly missed qualification but turned in a strong performance, placing fifth overall in 9:40.41 against a loaded field. In the field events, senior Claire Thomas saw a 9 inch PR and a fourth place finish in pole vault with a clearance of 10-3. In the long jump, Artemis Haney finished ninth with a leap of 16-5, while Aubrey Bamber placed 14th at 15-11. Thrower Alina Micchia represented the Lady Trojans in discus, finishing eighth with a mark of 102-0. The Lady Trojans also saw strong efforts from hurdlers Harper Russell and Lux Mountford. Russell advanced to the finals of the 100-meter hurdles and finished seventh overall in 16.00, while Mountford competed in both the 100-meter hurdle prelims and 300-meter hurdles finals. With a blend of senior leadership, emerging young talent, and strength across sprint, distance, relay, hurdle, and field events, the Lady Trojans head to the IHSAA State Finals prepared to compete with the best in Indiana.
