Jim Popp, Class of 1981 Popp was the first in Chesterton history to wear the ultimate three-word badge of honor for toughness: state champion wrestler. He achieved it by taking the 119-pound title as a junior in 1980. Placed third at state at 98 pounds as a freshman. In his senior year Popp showed toughness in another way, when he came down with pneumonia on the brink of sectionals and still managed to advance until losing in the semi-state round the year the Trojans placed second at state.
