The Chesterton High School cross country team opened the 2026 season by traveling to Ideville, Indiana to compete in the first ever Twin Lakes Invitational on Tuesday, August 18, 2026. It was a great evening for the Trojan runners as they put seven runners in the top ten and ran away with a win. More importantly it interjected a little normalcy into what otherwise has been a traumatic few weeks for the Duneland family. Many Duneland homes are still without power more than a week after a devistating storm swept across the region. Seniior Ryan Nix led the Trojans with a fine 16:15 over the dirt roads and fields of the Christmas tree farm where the meet was held. Juniors Aaron Pieters (2nd), Xander Sierazy (4th), and Colton Beckwith (6th) plus Sophomore Ben Hiestand (7th) scored for the team. The Trojans host the Larry James Invitational on Saturday.
