The Lady Trojans hosted Merrillville in their season finale Monday night. Both offenses burst out of the gate, with the Pirates taking an early six point lead. On the Trojans first play from scrimmage, Izzy Harvey connected with Taylor Mayle for the longest Trojan passing play of the season, a sixty yard bomb that would lead to a short touchdown pass to freshman running back Matilda Pagels. Chesterton matched Merrillville blow for blow and evened the score again at thirteen on a touchdown pass to Lexi Gano. Harvey and Gano would connect again in the second half, bringing Gano’s receiving touchdown total to thirteen on the season. Senior Annebell Haas led the Trojan defense with seven flag pulls, while also catching five passes for seventy-two yards on offense. Chesterton will play their sectional matchup Saturday afternoon at Ames Field in Michigan City.
