Leslie Nelson, Class of 2001 Scored 92 goals during her Chesterton soccer career, a school record that stood for 20 years. Best player on the best team in Chesterton girls soccer history. The Trojans went 22-2 in 2000 and finished as state runner-up to Carmel, the fourth-ranked team in the nation. Leslie, whose last name now is Hallmen, scored 40 goals that season and earned second-team all-state honors. She twice was named DAC MVP. Was named the team’s offensive MVP as a sophomore and team MVP the next two seasons. A high jumper who made it to the regional in high school, she was a reluctant runner then. Somewhere along the way she developed a love for distance running. Leslie has run in nine marathons, her favorite being the Chicago Marathon.
